CHARITY

Rock-It To A Cure began at the kitchen table of Mark and Cindy McCollum. As parents of Ian, a 14 year old Type I diabetic, they were involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation where their passion became trying to help find a cure for their son and in the process find ways to improve the quality of his life. In 2009 they met Nate, drummer for the Indianapolis based band, Réaul, and Ian began taking drum lessons. After seeing Réaul in concert they were inspired to develop a new and creative way of raising money for JDRF and in the process educate others about this disease in a fun and entertaining way. Rock-It To A Cure was born and has become an annual rockfest with great bands joining forces with Réaul to help accomplish this goal.

The first RITAC was in the fall of 2010 with Réaul headlining the event and supported by local bands. It was a small beginning but RITAC was established and determined to grow. In 2011, RITAC took a leap…a huge leap. A partnership with Live Nation lead to the Second Annual event and was held in the Egyptian Room at the historic Old National Center in downtown Indianapolis. Réaul was once again the headliner, joined by some of Indy's hottest local talent. The highlight of the event was when the Mayor of Indianapolis, Greg Ballard, officially proclaimed November 5, 2011 as Rock-It To a Cure Day. RITAC was not only now established and determined to grow but also poised to make an even greater impact.

The following year saw no Rock-It To a Cure event as it became a time of reflection and reorganization. Reaul had become the face behind a vision that was emerging into something bigger. A group of like-minded friends, family and business associates gathered along with Mark, Cindy and Réaul and decided to act on this vision. In the Spring of 2013, Rock It to a Cure, Inc. was formed and 501(c)(3) non-profit status was granted by the IRS. In addition, the RITAC 2013 event was planned and a new partnership was formed with The Athenaeum Foundation of Indianapolis - the site of the Third Annual Rock-It To A Cure.

The Mission of RITAC is to sponsor an annual concert to raise money for charities mainly geared toward research and the cure of childhood diseases and improving the quality of life for these children. We are not in competition with these non-profit organizations but rather desire to partner with them, coming alongside them to help them raise money for their causes through the venue and power of music. The Mission is also to engage and educate the fans, bringing awareness and a call to action - to help these charities reach their goals. Our petition is for national acts to join us in creating concerts that foster a spirit of giving and where their influence can be used to accomplish our mission for good. In the process, RITAC wants to engage and mentor young bands wishing to improve their performance and public exposure by giving them opportunities to play alongside of Réaul and other national acts. But more importantly, to instill in them the spirit of giving back and using their talents, not just for fame and fortune, but for causes much bigger than themselves.

The Vision? To grow and expand the reach of Rock-It To A Cure across the United States and the world.

Watch us do it.
